FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

JAZZ-FUSION GUITARIST DEVON KURZWEIL SET TO RELEASE HIS 2ND SOLO WORK, THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED FULL LENGTH ALBUM, EAST OF NOWHERE.

ALBUM AVAILABLE ON-LINE **OCTOBER 16TH, 2026**

Durham NC—Guitarist, composer & producer Devon Kurzweil is set to release his 2nd solo album (and 21st work) this summer, East of Nowhere. The album features seven dynamic tracks that delve into various jazz genres—modern, funk, smooth & latin—that showcase Kurzweil’s versatile guitar playing and compositional skills.

Kurzweil’s many influences range from Pat Martino to John Scofield to Ronny Jordan to Mike Stern. His over three decades of musical tenure has contributed to a unique jazz guitar style that combines both savvy technical skills and thoughtful phrasing. His colorful approach is a hallmark of the new album, both defining Kurzweil’s capabilities on guitar and at the same time highlighting a subtle restraint from the tedious overplaying that is common among many guitar albums.

The inspiration for this particular work comes from two distinct places. The first, a recently acquired hollow-body guitar—the Gibson Tal Farlow—that Kurzweil absolutely fell in love with. The vintage, esoteric tone of the guitar really stood out among his collection and he ended up using this particular guitar for the entire album! The second was Kurzweil’s recent relocation to the East Coast that left him a little out of place and struggling to find his musical footing. This change of scenery contributes to the underlying “lost” feeling of the writings.

The new album also features some great local players. Notably on bass, young phenom Cole Sipe (Everything Yes) adds some great low end touch to the compositions. Grant Osborne performed some very exquisite piano on four of the tracks, while Greg Santa Croce brought some clever organ comping and solo work to the other three. Greg’s off the cuff harmony on the title track really solidified the beauty of that arrangement. It’s hard to even tell that these players had never worked together before!

With the over abundance of home studios and overnight Instagram sensations releasing their works by the minute, it’s refreshing to hear a quality old-school, professionally recorded LP by an artist with over twenty-five years of production, recording and writing experience. We hope that you join us in celebration of Devon Kurzweil’s second solo album release, East of Nowhere.
