Imagine having to reduce your entire album collection to only ten albums…oh, the horror! Could you do it? We had an incredibly hard time, so we upped the number to fifteen and it was still incredibly hard! So, let’s hypothetically say that you happen to be stranded on a deserted island with an ipod that only holds about a gigabyte–which albums would make the cut?
We conducted a small poll here at Luxuryville. While whittling our collections down to only fifteen artists was exceedingly difficult, landing on a particular album by the artist was even harder! But we have no choice, right? Here’s our picks for the top fifteen albums that we can’t live without (not necessarily in any order):
1. Herbie Hancock/Headhunters (original album)
2. Led Zeppelin/Physical Graffiti
3. Steely Dan/AJA
4. Habib Koite/Foly! Live Around the World
5. Jimi Hendrix/Electric Ladyland
6. Steel Pulse/Reggae Fever
7. Miles Davis/E.S.P.
8. The Crusaders/Chain Reaction
9. Return To Forever/Romantic Warrior
10. Pink Floyd/The Wall
11. Yes/Tales From Topographic Oceans
12. Grateful Dead/Europe ’72
13. Prince/Purple Rain
14. Van Halen/Fair Warning
15. Jamiroquai/Traveling Without Moving
As we got lower down on the list, the competition for the last five spots was ridiculous. I imagine that there may be some variability in the 11-15 numbers depending on the day, month, year, etc. Regardless, we hope to never ever have to do this for any reason! Btw–if you are unfamiliar with any of these artists/albums, search the web and take a listen for yourself! You won’t be disappointed.
