Former Cars frontman Ric Ocasek has died at the age of 75 from heart disease. Truly the engine of The Cars, Ric brought a huge deal of creativity, originality and style to the 80’s with his most well recognized rock/pop project. The hits were numerous, including “Good Times Roll,” “My Best Friend’s Girl” and “Just What I Needed.” The band had 10 additional singles on Billboard’s Top 40, and four of their six studio albums made it on the list as well. Most fans will remember the MTV days of “Drive” and “You Might Think” as the pinnacle of the group’s legacy, providing an insane amount of airplay for the group in the mid 1980’s. In addition to being a legit writer/musician, he was also fortunate to marry supermodel Paulina Porizkova, which gave him a great deal of street cred among his fans and other rockstars alike. Love him or hate him, his style and look was unique; in fact, it fit the 80’s quite well! Most important, he left many musical treasures along the way during his journey that are still recognized and loved to this day. Hey Ric, when you get up to the pearly gates, make sure to let the good times roll brother!
