FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ALGORHYTHM TRIO TO RELEASE THEIR DEBUT ALBUM—TRIPTYCH EP

 CD AVAILABLE ONLINE

January 28, 2014

Denver, CO – November 20, 2013 – Denver based modern jazz group, Algorhythm Trio, is set to release their debut ep, Triptych.  The work features six select jazz favorites that explore different genres of jazz, latin, african and brazilian beats.

With influences ranging from Miles to Mingus to Mike Stern to Mahavishnu, Algorhythm Trio puts a fresh twist on modern jazz.  The group is adept at blending clever rhythmic arrangements over jazz favorites that accentuate the organic poly-rhythms found in traditional jazz, world and modern music.  The music listener takes a trip around the globe and back, all while grooving to the deep rhythms of the beat.   There is a little something for everyone in their sound.

Local guitarist Devon Kurzweil has been performing in Colorado for over 20 years.  He is a talented player that commands many styles of music; his style is reminiscent of George Benson, Mike Stern and John Scofield.  Complementing on bass, Dion Stepanski brings solid, creative rhythms to each track, filling in the spaces.  He brings an attentive ear to the compositions, knowing when to play just the right amount.  Rounding out the group on drums, Shawn Mullen, a veteran drummer from the Boston scene adds atomic clock meter and artistic, colorful beats to the equation.  The algorithm is complete.

Triptych ep features six well known jazz favorites, arranged in various styles to give the listener a taste of what the band can do.  The standout track, “Butterfly” is a Herbie Hancock classic performed with patient, well-restrained energy.  Two notable alternate arrangements include a rock-a-billy “Witchhunt”, and an afro-beat styled “Impressions”.  Bass fans will enjoy Dion’s melodic solo in “Stolen Moments”.

With the over abundance of watercolor jazz that has seemed to infiltrate today’s music scene, Algorhythm Trio add both freshness and intensity to today’s musical landscape.  We hope that you will join us in the celebration and release of Algorhythm Trio’s debut album, Triptych.
