For those who live in the dark, one of jazz’s most loved and respected vibraphonist/composers, Roy Ayers (“The Godfather of Neo-Soul”) passed away a few months ago. His influence in funky jazz, soul jazz, acid jazz, and even hip hop is legendary. As an encore treat and to showcase his crossover talent, I leave the reader this gem of a concert from the 2011 North Sea Jazz Festival, also featuring Robert Glasper and Pete Rock. RIP Roy! Enjoy the show…
