Well, it had to happen at some point. Ozzy was getting up there and the years of abuse were gonna catch up sooner or later. In any case, a sad time for rock & metal fans—Ozzy Ozbourne has passed away at the ripe old age of 76. There’s really too much to say, so I’m not going to say it all here. I mean he’s a legend, both for his onstage antics and off. But what really struck me as the core attribute of Ozzy was his devotion—all the years of non-stop effort just bringing it, night after night which ultimately led to a fan base around the world of 100’s of millions of headbangers. A true innovator and while maybe not the most endearing front man, certainly one of the wildest and infamous. His songs are legendary and some of the riffs will live on immortal. He also managed to recruit a few of the best rock/metal guitarists anywhere. Ozzy wasn’t generally in my bag of “go to” music, but I don’t recall an Ozzy tune that I didn’t like. Me thinks he might even scare the devil a little bit. RIP Oz!
